Geneva (#3) beat Brighton (#2) 17-6 and Waterloo (#3) beat Aquinas (#2) in the B/C tournament. In the Class A bracket, all of the higher seeded teams won, setting up the semi final round on Tuesday at Aquinas (Class A) and Irondequoit (Class B/C).

The Finger Lakes coaches recently announced the list of all stars for 2005. Canandaigua midfielder Dan Groot and Penn Yan Attackman, Jon Van Houten were named to the All America team. Canandaigua senior attackman, Chris Mulheron was name Academic All American.

Fairport won another close one, this time against Rush-Henrietta, Geneva was the winner against Victor, Spencerport won a close one against Churchville-Chili and McQuaid Jesuit won their last GRALL contest, making them Co-Champions with Aquinas. Schroeder took a win from Irondequoit and five other games were played today.

# 1622  Thursday: HFL, McQuaid Jesuit, Victor, Pittsford

The rematch of HF-L and Brighton drew attention tonight and the Cougars again were the victors, but in a closer game than back in early April. McQuaid Jesuit won another game by a single goal, as did Victor in their game with Waterloo. Canandaigua's Head Coach John Johnson won his 350th game. Ten other games were played in Section Five on Thursday.

# 1613  Tuesday: Fairport in a Close One

It was a full day of lacrosse under cloudy but warm skies. Fairport won a close game against vi sting Irondequoit, and Gates has a one goal victory in the battle of the Chilis. Hilton won in overtime, but there were a number of blowouts as Canandaigua, Penn Yan, Geneva and Penfield each had easy wins.

It was all it was cracked up to be. Two good teams fighting it out, each needing a win, but with only team able to come out on top. Today it was Penn Yan over host Fairport 10-8 an a game that went right down to the wire.

With the exception of one make up game, Saturday was "Non-League" Day in Section Five. Penn Yan beat Schroeder 8-7 and Orchard Park beat Fairport 10-9. Surprises came in the form of Canandaigua over Irondequoit 15-3 and Rush-Henrietta over Victor 9-5.

# 1599  Saturday: Beautiful Weather

Mid 50 degree weather and bright sunshine dominated and the fans were winners today as 12 games were played by Section Five teams. Waterloo won another OT game in their 9-8 win over Waterloo. Newark played Midlakes to an 8-6 win and Aquinas won a close game with McQuaid Jesuit on their new turf field.

Honeoye Falls-Lima improved their record to 4-0 with a night game win at host Brighton, 17-5. After building a 5-3 lead in the first, the Cougars exploded in the second with 8 goals to Brighton's 1 to end the half up 13-3. Seven different players contributed to the 17 goals, 11 of which were assisted (65%).

Livonia increased their record to one win one loss with a thrilling 11-10 sudden victory double overtime win over Haverling at Saunders field. The winning goal was scored on an isolation play by senior midfielder Josh Hendrickson with 2:27 left in the second overtime period.

Waterloo defeated host Pal-Mac 12-5 with seven different players making the score-book. After 4-1 quarter and 6-1 half, The Indians, who won the ground ball race 26-17 outscored the Raiders 6-4 in the second half.

There was lots of action in Section Five today as seven games were played on the last day of March. Victor had a one goal win over visiting Pal-Mac as senior attackman Cory Benulis scored the game winner with 3:59 left. Pal-Mac dominated the first half with ball control and patience. Victor stayed in the game with defensive performances by sophomore Tim Gallahan and senior middie Tim Rose.

This was the last chance for regular season games in Section Five. Eleven games were scheduled under the cold and rain of upstate New York. Canandaigua won big at home and maintained their undefeated season. Penfield lost to host Pittsford and dropped to 15-1.

It cost Livonia a long bus ride for a 17 minute "game" as they finished yesterday's game at Haverling which was halted at 12-4 in the third quarter due to an electrical storm.

# 1535  Game Report: Sat - 04/25/2004

There were lots of man-up opportunities at Livonia as Victor beat the Bulldogs 11-8. Victor took a 4-0 lead in the first quarter and extended the score to 7-2 at the half-time break. Livonia came back in the second half outscoring the Blue Devils 6-4. Victor had five man up goals on five tries including all three goals in the last quarter.

Penfield almost lost it's undefeated season for the second time this week, and Schroeder used overtime to defeat Rush-Henrietta. Canandaigua has no trouble hanging on to it's undefeated season with a Finger Lakes win over Victor.

The Empire State Games, Western Team Coaches, Bill Warder (Geneva) and Brian Hobart (Penn Yan), have announced the 2003 team. The games will be played in Buffalo from July 23 - 27, 2003. More on the games can be found at the NYS Empire State Games web site.
